At Karwal Aesthetics, we use hyaluronic acid dermal fillers only. One of the key benefits of using hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are completely reversible. Therefore, in the rare case that fillers need to be dissolved for medical or cosmetic reasons, it is very simple and straightforward to do so.

How Do We Dissolve Filler?

Dissolving filler is a simple process which only takes a few minutes to perform. The target area is first anaesthetised with a local anaesthetic cream to make the procedure comfortable. A patch test is then performed- usually on the arm. A patch test is where we test a small amount of hyaluronidase (the substance used to dissolve filler) on a small area of skin to detect any allergic reaction. Providing that there is no reaction to the hyaluronidase, we will then proceed with injecting small amounts of the hyaluronidase into the target area. Once injected the substance works very quickly and all the filler should be dissolved within the first couple of days which is then absorbed by the body.

  1. Lumps/bumps or areas of asymmetry
  2. Migration of filler- this sometimes occurs in areas such as lips when the area has been over-filled or injected erroneously
  3. Disliking the result
  4. Vascular occlusion- this is an extremely rare case when filler has blocked a blood vessel.

If you would like the area re-filled, we usually suggest a minimum of 3 weeks before re-introducing any new filler into the area. This is so that any new hyaluronic acid is not broken down and to allow time for swelling to settle.
