Masseter Treatment

Cosmetic & medical benefits.

The masseter muscles are one of the bulky jaw muscles responsible for chewing. For some people, the muscle can enlarge due to excessive jaw clenching and teeth grinding, leading to jaw pains/headaches and even fractured teeth.

Masseter botox can offer both medical and cosmetic benefits. People who suffer from bruxism (excessive teeth grinding) can have great symptomatic benefits. Relaxing the masseter muscles reduces the tendency to excessively grind the teeth even during sleep.

From a cosmetic standpoint, masseter botox is an excellent treatment for slimming the jaw. This would be mainly used to feminise the face.

As a general rule, to feminise the face, we aim for the cheek width to be wider than the jaws. This is great news for women with hypertrophied (enlarged) masseter muscles. By slimming the jaw, we can slim this portion of the face for the cheeks to be more dominant in comparison, which can feminise the face.

Prices start from £350.

How does it work?

The appointment begins with a thorough consultation and assessment of masseter muscles to deem whether you are suitable for this treatment. The consultation and the treatment will be performed by Dr Arun.

A targeted dose of botox is injected into the masseter muscles on either side of the face.

The muscle-relaxing effects of botox cause the muscle to be less active after about 1 week. This is when patients start to experience significant relief from bruxism and headaches.

After about 4 weeks, the muscle begins to undergo some atrophy (reduced muscle size) which gives cosmetic benefits.

This treatment can be performed alongside many of our other treatments such as cheek filler in our beautification package to enhance the v-shaped feminine face.
